Parashat Bechukotai starts with the rewards for accomplishing God's covenant. After reading these passages, I concluded that if you follow God, you will be rewarded for this good decision. But then the text describes very severe punishments for not following God’s covenant.

It’s nice to be rewarded when you do something good. And it’s not easy to suffer the consequences if you do something bad. But the only way you can learn from doing something bad is to be punished for that, whether it’s going to detention or all your crops dying. This parashah teaches a valuable lesson that happens in average people's lives every day.

I think I chose the right decisions that led me to become a bat mitzvah, and I will continue having to have the responsibility between choosing either something that is right and brings me rewards or something bad that brings consequences.
